Tsuchiura City’s cycling base

Tsuchiura City has many scenic cycling routes. Kasumigaura is Japan’s second largest freshwater lake that has great cycling courses, long and short. Tsukuba Rin Rin Road is a retired train line turned into a bike path. It passes through some historic and scenic areas near Mount Tsukuba. Ring Ring Square provides bicycle rentals and repairs, an information area, and bike sales. There is also an information area that has suggested day trip itineraries. The day trips are suitable for leisurely cyclists and families. There are challenging long rides, too. All signage and itinerary cards are in English and Japanese.
