    Culture mixed with play!

Akabeko Park is a quirky stop in Fukushima Prefecture for families and fans of Japanese folk culture. The entire playground is themed around the region's akabeko (the traditional red cow toys that are said to ward off evil and illness), and the star attraction is a giant red cow-shaped slide. There are also matching spring riders, adorable stools, a themed drinking fountain, and even a fence decorated with red cow designs. The park is small, so it's best enjoyed as a short stop while exploring the Aizu region rather than something you'd visit for in and of itself.
