Curated Japanese architecture treasures in a tranquil garden
Sankeien is a treaure not just for its traditional landscapes and venerable trees, but also for its architecture. Hara Sankei brought to Yokohama specimens of temple and estate buildings from Gifu, Kyoto and Kamakura. The oldest pagoda in the Kanto region is here at this garden, rescued from a forgotten temple in Kyoto. Before you go, check to see if the garden is serving tea. If you're planning a big event, you might consider renting some of the spaces available at the garden. One building in particular is open for public use.
