One of Abiko City's exemplary community halls
Abiko City's services accommodate all kinds of people, and this community hall is a great example for other communities. Opened in 2010, the hall has features and facilities for people of all ages. The automatic doors (no sills for smooth entry) open into a bright main area with seating and a children's play area. You'll find wavy handrails that provide grabs for people of all heights. The stairway has porthole-like windows that admit light, making for a bright space. With accessibility in mind, the kitchen is wheelchair accessible and furnished with various appliances for bread and soba preparation. Besides the terrace garden, there is seating for a tiny cafe of sorts, serving 100-yen coffee and tea. Room rental fees are waived when more than half of attendees hold disability certificates. The hall is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. most days, and it's about a 10-minute walk from Abiko Station's north exit.
