Okhotsk Mombetsu Airport

Easy to navigate airport with a friendly welcome!

Since the Okhotsk Mombetsu Airport is a smaller regional airport, it might go without saying that it was easy to navigate, but this isn’t always the case for smaller airports. When I arrived my checked luggage arrived quickly, and from there you’re basically 20 steps from collecting your bags until you can get out of the airport - super easy! They have an information counter and car rentals available, as well as taxi transport right outside. One of the most adorable things about this airport though is their mascot that seems to be ever-present! Seals are present in the waters around Mombetsu, and there is even a seal conservatory you can visit in the area, so it’s quite fitting that their regional mascot is a seal by the name of Monta! As far as I could see there was only one flight from Tokyo inbound and one flight from Mombetsu back to Tokyo daily - however there may be other domestic flights.
