Art with a touching backstory
The Tomihiro Art Museum was opened back in 1991, and it displays a variety of art from Tomihiro Hoshino. The backstory behind his art is really touching - he was injured in a gymnastics vaulting move, and ended up being paralyzed from the neck down. He taught himself to paint during his extensive hospital stay, and the museum is a place where you feel inspired by the strength of the human spirit. Almost 7 million guests have visited the museum, including the likes of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. For architecture/design fans, the museum building itself is simply gorgeous and worthy of appreciation.
