Inexpensive and relaxing
Kuwadori Yutari Village in Joetsu is an onsen accomodation spot, but they also offer cheap day passes for using the onsen facilities - it's a nice way to spend some time getting some R&R. It's only 600 yen for adults, which is super reasonable IMO and cheaper than some other places I've visited.
