Pleasant dining option with harbour views
We like the direct approach to business naming that 'Delicious Restaurant Attic' in Nagasaki has undertaken. This pleasant restaurant / cafe occupies the final slot at the southern end of Nagasaki dining hot spot Dejima Terrace. We visited Attic for lunch on a Monday in June. The restaurant has a number of tables and chairs set outside with nice views over Dejima Wharf from which you can kick back and watch the ships come and go. The al fresco area is mostly covered, so you should be OK here in the rain. Most of the tables outside were taken giving the impression this place might be quite popular. (It does feature in a Japanese-language travel guide.) Food at Attic is mostly Italian, although they do have a decent selection of burgers on the menu. Mains are around 1,000 yen. Coffees and teas around 400 yen, and beers around 600 yen. We had a lunch set which, at the time of visiting, was pasta, soup and salad for 550 yen. With the lunch sets at Attic you can add on 100 yen and get tea or coffee. The food was good, the coffee event better, and the service prompt and smooth. Pay for your meals inside when you leave. Although most diners were sat outside when we visited, inside seating also looks to be pleasant, although views to the harbour will be limited. The Japanese travel partner remarked that service at Attic was super kind (This in Japan!), but that said, we found service everywhere in Nagasaki to be similarly 'super kind'. Overall, 'Delicious Restaurant Attic' is a great choice for a civilised bite to eat or coffee/beer in Nagasaki. If you can't get a seat, don't worry too much as many of the eateries in Dejima Terrace look appealing and all seem to have views over the sea. Hours: Mon to Thurs & Sun - 11:00 - 23:00 / Fri & Sat - 11:00 - 23:00 Access: Attic is just a short hop from the Dejima (出島) streetcar stop.
