Shiroishi Castle

A nice stop on the way to Zao Fox Village

We stopped off at Shiroishi Castle on the way to the Zao Fox Village. We were there early so we weren’t able to go into the actual castle itself (that opens at 9am and is 400 yen admission fee) but we were able to wander the grounds. Views from the top of the castle are reportedly pretty nice, so I am a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see those! This isn’t the flashiest castle out there, but it definitely has charm and beauty. I don’t know that I’d make a trip to Shiroishi especially to see the castle, but it made for a pleasant spot to stop and admire some neat architecture on our way to the Fox Village.
