Nice park in close proximity to the navy base
I visited Verny Park some years ago when we had friends stationed at the Yokosuka Navy Base, and it's a pleasant spot to check out if you like watching ships from both the US and Japanese naval fleets. The park itself has some nice flower displays at certain times of year as well.

French style and military might
This waterfront park in Yokosuka City is named after one of the French maritime engineers who built an ironworks here in the 1880s. And it's quite the sight - hundreds of roses bloom and lawns are bordered by French-style garden architecture against the backdrop of submarines and warships of an American naval base and a Japanese maritime self defense instalation. The rail overlooking the water is a great place to spot and take photos of vessels in the port. When I was there, two JMSDF submarines were moored.
