Kai Japanese Language School Tokyo - a good way to study the Language

When I came the first time to Japan for a longer period (half year) with a work and travel visa, I wanted to use the chance to learn a little bit the language. Tokyo has tons of different language schools with different programs and prices. It was very hard to find the right one for me. In the end I decided for the Kai Language School at the Korean town of Shin-Okubo. The school was founded in 1987 and has a high rate of western students. Many schools have a high rate of Asian students, which makes it very difficult for westerner, because of the different language background. Depending of your needs the school offers 6 different courses. In the beginning you will have a test interview to find out which is the right level for you, the purpose and planned time period of study. Depending on the results you can choose one of the following courses: General Japanese Language Course The General Course is designed to develop and create a balance between the four skills of language: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. This is a long term course (up to 2 years) for people who seriously want to study the language. Practical Conversation Course The practical Conversation Course is a short term course focusing only on your conversation skills. At the beginner class you will learn all for your daily lives in Japan. As the level goes up, the range of conversation widens from daily topics to social and specialized ones. For students who wish to learn also reading, writing and about the Japanese culture, the practical conversation course has a 50-minute elective class each day. Classes include writing (hiragana, katakana and kanji), reading comprehension, dictation, vocabulary, etc. In addition, it's possible to take classes about Japanese cultural experiences (tea ceremony, calligraphy, paper folding, sushi making, etc.) as well as cultural understanding (shrine, hot spring, Japanese cuisine, etc.). Business Japanese The Business Japanese Course is for students who want to work in Japan and can speak already Japanese, but want to study more Basic Business Japanese. The students can learn business Japanese, business manners and business skills necessary for those want to get a job at a Japanese company or Japanese-affiliated company all over the world. Summer Courses During the summer season from July to August you can join the summer courses. Grammar, JLPT, and business Japanese classes are available. Optional activities such as sightseeing, culture experience, gourmet, etc. are offered every day to fully enjoy your summer in Japan. 50+ Course This is a special course for older people who want to use the opportunity to learn even at a high age a new language. You can learn Japanese and the Japanese culture due to your own needs and time. It will be a perfect experience for the older generation. Private Lessons The school also others private one to one lessons in terms of the needs of the students. The Course curriculums are adjusted to the student's requests and their proficiency. It is even possible to have some trial level to find out if the school and courses are the right choice for you. It is possible to observe multiple levels for free. The school also offers many activities like school trips to Kamakura or culture experiences like wearing a kimono, joining a tea ceremony or celebrating the Tanabata festival. The school also organizes different accommodation choices like staying like Homestay families, share houses, short-term furnished apartments or staying in a hotel. They will also take care of the right visa (student visa) which you will need as a long term student. The teachers are very friendly and helpful and always try to teach you the language in a good way. Even all is in Japanese it is easy to understand. Every lesson is with a different teacher, that you can experience different sounds and style of the language. I also made many new friends for my lifetime during my time at the school!
