Katsuragi Shrine

Eponymous shrine of Mt Katsuragi

Katsuragi shrine is the shrine near the rope-way station at the top of Mt Katsuragi in the Sky Garden of Izunokuni Panoramic Park. It is accessible by a seven minute long rope-way ride. There is a lovely little arched bridge over to the shrine which makes it picturesque from a certain angle. There are a few cherry blossoms around, but the mountain top is most resplendent when the azalea are in bloom in late spring. There are lots of other things to see in the park on top of the mountain, including great views of Mt Fuji on a fine day. You'll see some of the other attractions in the related reviews below this post. The shrine is accessible when the rope-way is running. The hours vary year round, but generally you can get up and back to the summit between 10 am and 4 pm, sometimes later, sometimes earlier! The shrine is free, but you have to pay for the rope-way.
