Unagi and novel pudding toppings
Daikoku, specializing in unagi, has reasonably priced lunch sets. The quality and presentation are excellent. For dessert, don't miss the pudding combination. Two small servings of pudding are served in a basket with two varieties of syrup. One is conventional, black sugar caramel, but the other is a suprise - unadare caramel made with the savory unagi sauce. It works with the sweet and creamy pudding.

Unagi and sweet potato ice-cream!
Daikoku is located in the Penny Candy Alley, aka Kashiya Yokocho, of Kawagoe's tourist town. I don't know if it is a coincidence that this restaurant shares the name, in part, of the Penny Candy Alley's most famous food souvenir - Daikokubo. But if Daikoku sells Daikokubo I am unaware! What it is known for is its unagi. Personally, I've only ever tried the sweet potato ice-cream, which was better than expected. The ice-cream can be purchased from a kiosk rather than having to go into the restaurant.
