Koshigoe Higanbana Colony

Did not live up to expectations

A few years ago when I was visiting the Begonia in Ogawa I passed this red spider lily colony and it looked nice. It was a bit early in the season, so I vowed to go back in prime season sometime. Especially after I looked it up online when I got home and it had rave reviews. So this year, I fulfilled that promise to myself and revisited. However, it didn't live up to my expectations. For one, the area that is accessible from the road is completely overgrown this year, so you can't see the higanbana very well. Moreover, the area across the river where you can see them, pictured, you can't get to! It might be temporary because the river was very high on Tuesday. But there is no bridge and it looks like some of the stepping stones were moved / washed away. Also, there is no parking lot for this spot and the nearest parking lot is miles away.
