    Their sasadango is delicious

We love this place, mainly because the staff are just so sweet (doesn't that make a place infinitely better?) but also because their range of sweets are so good. If you visit, you have to get the sasadango. It's a Niigata specialty, consisting of mugwort flavored mochi with red beans, wrapped in a bamboo leaf. Might sound weird, but it's surprisingly addictive and delicious. Recommend it, both for the sweet service and the sasadango!

Sweet treats sold by sweet staff!

I stumbled onto this little gem when I was visiting Bishamon-do temple with extended family, and I’m glad I did! At the time, there was only one staff member there—a sweet older lady who was keen on helping us find the perfect treats given dietary restrictions (my visitors are vegans), although my daughter went straight for the chocolate cake, as usual. When we were having trouble deciding on which type of dango we wanted to get (there were lots of options), you know what the lady did? She gave us one of each and said, “サービス” (“Service”). She wanted us to try a bit of everything to make an informed decision. How great is that? Just one quick critique: the wagashi (Japanese-style treats) are better than the western style options, but both will do the trick.
