Gateau Senka is a patisserie chain with several branches in Niigata, but this review is specifically about the store within Nagaoka's Riverside Senshu mall. The store has a good lineup of sweets -- there are things like full cakes or cakes by the slice, choux cream puffs, tarts, and more, and I appreciate that some of the items on offer feature local produce like Le Lectier pears. There's also a nice, roomy dine-in space, where you can enjoy your sweet treat of choice on the spot. If you don't have time to dine in they will happily package up whatever you order, and there are also ready-packed omiyage style boxes of treats if you're looking for a gift.
