  • A Market with a whole lotta Nigata!

This market is teeming with locally sourced products of all shapes and sizes. Walking in, there’s a delicatessen and bakery, but after a few steps you are greeted by many locally sourced foods, sweets, and handicrafts. I walked away with some spicy miso, and I love it as a spice for anything but especially rice balls. Also tried the Rosemary Focaccia, and it was amazing. The rosemary was an excellent accent to the soft, sinewy bread. Beyond that area, there is an expansive space dedicated to locally grown produce, reflecting the different seasons. And you won’t be missing out on pickled foods either because there are plenty of those to choose from as well. Rice wine has its own section, and there is delivery available all throughout Japan for anything that you purchase and want to send. There’s ample seating for anyone or any family that wants to sit and relax, and the cafe in the market has a simple menu with is easily paired with cookies or other sweets available in the larger store or from the cafe itself. There are two main parking lots, one of the west and another on the east side. The first 90 minutes is free, so if you can do your shopping in that time, you'll be just fine.
