    Beautiful scenery

Lake Ashi, also known as Hakone lake, is well worth visiting if you are in the Hakone area. If you are on a budget, you can just take in the breathtaking scenery made all the more beautiful by the Hakone Sightseeing Cruise boat, that looks like a gold gilted pirate ship, ferrying back and forth. If you do have a few bob to spare I highly recommend going out on that boat. The Hakone Free Pass is good value and includes admission to the boat and several other key attractions in Hakone.

    Scenic outdoors spot

If you're in the Hakone area and looking for outdoorsy, nature-based things to do, a visit to Lake Ashi is a must. On clear days you can see Mount Fuji from the lake, and you can even take a cruise on the lake's waters on a cool looking pirate ship. Even if you don't see Fuji because of clouds, or don't take a ride out on the water, it's still simply stunning just for a pleasant stroll.
