A Shibamata institution for tawashi and luck

Tamaya directly outside Shibamata Station is a souvenir shop that's been in business since 2016. The shopkeeper is a livewire - she gathers a crowd with her sales pitch in Japanese, English, and other languages, for the main products of the store - tawashi scrub brushes and golden poop talismans. The word for luck, "un" sounds like "unko", poop, so this word play is why you'll see little gold-plated turds and related goods here. The shop also sells toramaki, a local treat of red bean paste wrapped in a tiger-striped pastry.
