    We liked it!

If you have any aviation aficionados in your family, checking out the Tokorozawa Aviation Museum is a fun way to spend some time in the area. The museum covers the history of aviation in Japan, and there are a wide variety of displays to check out --getting to see actual planes close up was definitely a highlight. Important to keep in mind that the displays only have information on them in Japanese, but I do think using Google Translate helps to fill the gaps.

    An education in aviation

The Aviation Museum in Tokorozawa is not particularly big, but if you visit with children you'd easily spend at least half a day there. They have a lot of activities that interest children even if they aren't big aeronautic fans. I do recommend though that you wait until your children are old enough to get the full value of the museum. Some of the interactive exhibits require children to be 7 years or older and / or have a height restriction. For example, the very popular moon walker requires that children are at least 125 centimeters tall to enjoy the ride. The museum has a reputation for not being foreigner friendly due to the lack of English, but there is an app you can use to hear all the information in English from your device. Even without reading or speaking Japanese you can enjoy a lot of the activities anyway. Access from Koku koen station on the Seibu Shinjuku line. They have parking, but it is often jammed with a queue of people waiting. You can park in the adjoining park's car park for 200 yen a day.
