Great even for kids
My husband regularly visits here for his own haircuts, and my 2 year old's hair was getting very shaggy. I had trimmed his hair myself up until this point, but it was really starting to get to a point where he needed a proper, professional cut! The barber here is brilliant - my husband had raved about him to me before, but I guess a true test for any hair stylist is when they have a wiggly, wriggly kid in the chair. Would recommend for any male cuts, adult or child - they always do a great job on hubby's hair, too! Japanese language only, so if your Japanese isn't great I would recommend bringing a picture of the style you want.

Best Barber for Expats in Urasa
I was really nervous about getting a haircut out in the Japanese countryside. At least in Tokyo, foreigners are relatively common and many barbers are trained overseas, but out here is a different story. Still, I was looking like a shaggy dog and just picked the barber closest to me. I'm glad I did. Y's Hair is owned and operated by a single barber who treats his work like a craft. He is very proud of his training and expertise, and it shows in his treatment of customers. I only get my hair cut here now, and I have even asked him to do shaves as well. The price is reasonable, too. 1600 yen for a shave, 2500 for a cut, 3500 yen for cut/shampoo, and just a little more than that for the works. A few notes: - Unless you ask for a buzz or a shaved head, the barber doesn't use clippers--just shears. It's more time consuming, but gives you a great cut. - Each service (hair cut, shave, etc.) takes about an hour. - He keeps relatively busy, so do call ahead for an appointment: 025-777-4200
