    Sacred gate and beach

What is rare is wonderful and this special beach in Kashima is surprisingly not that well known, although the torii is the first gate of the famous Kashima Shrine. There are four gates at each of the cardinal directions, this one is at the east "the Ichi no Torii on Akashi Beach". The area within the four gates is said to be sacred. Moreover, the legend says that the beach is the sacred place where Takemikazuchi descended after he finished negotiating the transfer of land with Okuninushi and coming into the Eastern provinces. Regrettably they put a wall up at the torii, but it was necessary to protect it from the sea.
