Hoshizuna Beach

Search for star-shaped sand

If you want a beach with a bit of whimsical charm to it and you're considering an Okinawa trip, I would suggest Hoshizuna Beach, also known as the "star sand beach". Some (definitely not all) grains of sand here are star-shaped if you're prepared to do a bit of hunting, but I wouldn't recommend getting overly excited that you'll find fistfuls of starry sand grains. Still, it's a scenic spot and a fun place to spend some time on Taketomi Island.
