    Top spot for a rummage

This branch of Book Off is under 10 minutes by car from the Niigata Aquarium, and it's one of my family's favorite spots for a rummage when we're in the area. They have a great manga selection, which is my son's primary reason for visiting - and as a parent I'm happy to encourage his love for reading at a reasonable price! Not much in the way of English books but I think that's to be expected based on the location, really.

  • Lots of Diamonds in the Rough!

Lots of diamonds in the rough here. Book Off/House Off is a one stop shop for just about anything on your new/recycled want list. The store has shelves upon shelves of books of all different varieties. The English text collection is rather limited, but this is the countryside, and if you really want a specific book, there’s always the Netmall to use. If you’re a teacher looking for used Eiken texts for helping with interview practice or the first test, then there are ample to choose from, and many different publishers are represented. The DVDs and CDs are a bit of a mishmash, for what’s available, but if you’re in the hunt for a DVD you may have already seen before to enjoy on a Sunday night, Book Off is your store. And again, if you’re looking for something specific, you can use the Netmall to find it. On the ‘Off House’ side of the store, there are tons of household items, jewelry, clothes, and more, and Japan is the only place I never worry about the purported quality of the items on offer. The staff meticulously check over the goods in the store, and before they are offered to customers, they receive a rating and rundown of potential defects if there are any. I’ve bought more than my share of microphones, jerseys, fans, and other electronics at this store. If you want a buying adventure, give Book Off/House Off a try!
