Mystery shrine, wayfinding sign
Isejuku was once an Edo River village in Ichikawa City. Tiny Toyoku Shrine is a vestige of the village now surrounded by modern development. The honden enshrines Toyoke no Okami, a descendant of Izanami no Mikoto, the granddaddy of the gods. The shrine is small, but it has two features to look out for. The gables are finished with forked finials, the kind you see at Ise Jingu. And near the gate is a signboard with the shrine's details (no founding date, hence the mystery element) and directions to the adjacent shrines. It's not specacular, but it gives you a sense of how Gyotoku's temple town has changed, and points you to the next place on the walking path.
