Yakushi no Oka (or the tomb of Yakushi) is a place where you can get some great views of the Echigo Sanzan mountains, rice fields, and seasonal flowers at certain times of year. Right now it's a great place for cosmos, and it's free! The scenery really is postcard-worthy, so go and check it out if you're a local.
