I feel like the Gosen area of Niigata is best known for tulips, but it's also a pretty fab spot for all things peonies at this time of year! The Peony Hundred Varieties Exhibition Garden is located within Higashi Park, and it actually boasts around 120 varieties of the flower species. On-site parking is available, and there's no admission fee, so it's a cheap day out for spring bloom lovers.
