La Cave de YaMaYa

Great resource for imported food goodies and booze

The OCAT Bus Terminal near Osaka's Namba Station is bit of a lonely place. It may look all futuristic and clever from the outside, but inside there's really not much of an atmosphere. There is, however, compelling reason for the expat to be here (other than to catch a bus); import food and booze store La Cave de YaMaYa (with the wonderful 'subheading' 'World Liquor System'). At La Cave de YaMaYa you can find more kinds of booze than you'll ever know what to do with; plenty of imported bottles of beer, champaign that goes for up to 15,000 yen, wine ranging from student cheap through to bottle with a 'year' for up to 90,000 yen. If you're looking for something a little left of center on the alcohol front, maybe you'll find it here. There's food, too. Plenty of good pasta sauces and curry making kits. Fancy (and pricey) granola from places like Switzerland. This is much more to give you a taste of things from back home. La Cave de YaMaYa could also be a decent resource for getting nice coffee. Plenty of grains to choose from in this store. Apart from the lonely location, this branch of the 'World Liquor System' come highly recommended.
