Iconic photo op in Eastern Hokkaido
If you like unique photo opportunities, and want to pose with a symbol that represents an area perfectly, you should head to the Mombetsu Crab Claw Statue if you’re in the Eastern Hokkaido area. Mombetsu is said to have not just the best crab in Hokkaido, but in all of Japan - so it makes perfect sense why the area would have a giant statue there. A lot of people like to pose with the statue and a seafood cup noodle with the crab claw poking out the top. Best of all, since this is just a statue, it’s free to visit - and it makes for excellent Instagram-worthy shots. The only downside to this free attraction is that it’s bitterly cold i winter, so your hands are going to just about freeze solid while you whip out your camera and attempt to get that statue in the right spot for your pic!
