Owl Cafe - Owl Village Harajuku

I've never thought I'd be able to interact with owls until I came to Japan. My friends and I had found this cozy little owl cafe in Harajuku, about a minute walk from the JR Harajuku Station at the Takeshita exit. We walked in without an appointment and made one for the next available hour. You can also make an appointment on their website (English user-friendly). We decided on the Standard course, for 60 mins at a limited-time discounted ￥1500, which included a free drink and an owl pin. Luckily, the staff spoke good English. We had a 45-min wait until the next hour started, but with many stores nearby, it was easy to kill time. After returning to the cafe, we started the Standard course with a drink (I had hot green tea) and an informative and entertaining video on how to behave around the owls. The interior of this cafe was filled with owl stuff. From owl beers, to own merchandise you could purchase (shirts, mugs, bags), to owl zabuton (sitting pillows). The staff then were getting the owls ready and we were able to go in to play with them. While one of the staff was cleaning inside the owl area, we were lucky enough to see their White-Faced Scops Owl, (named Schola) "transform"! When ready, we were introduced to all the owls, each having their own little personality. The descriptions given were truly adorable. You could tell that these owls were very loved and taken care of well. They were celebrating one of the birds birthday's as well! One of the descriptions said that these two Indian Eagle Owls were best friends and liked to look out the window together (surely enough I saw it with my own eyes and snapped a priceless picture). We were able to pet them and also hold them. For an additional ￥500, you are able to feed them according to their feeding schedule. The different breeds of owls that were at this cafe were three Indian Eagle Owl, two Barn Owls, a Little Owl, a Chaco Owl, and the White-Faced Scops Owl. All these owls were friendly and great having their own personality. They were also very photogenic and perfect for photos. At the end of our course, we were given an evaluation sheet, which was a good indicator that they care for their customer's experience. They also had a really difficult question on who your favorite owl was. Obviously, we had to list them all! I had such a wonderful first experience at an owl cafe that I want to visit their Shibuya location, hoping to fall in love with their owls there as well. Definitely recommend Owl Village Harajuku if you ever want to interact with cute owls!
