    History-packed shrine in Shinjuku

Located under 10 minutes on foot from Shinjuku Station, Hanazono Shrine is a nice spot to get a bit of respite from the city's hustle and bustle. On the times I've passed through here it hasn't been busy at all (a contrast to some of the city's more popular shrines!) and they have some nice ema and goshuin if you collect those. The shrine also holds an antique market on Sundays if you want to stop by -- it's a nice way to get some one of a kind pieces like unique kokeshi or ceramics.
