A garden promenade in Makuhari new town
I feel dwarfed by the massive buildings and wide boulevards whenever I visit Makuhari New Town in Chiba City. Events there draw huge crowds and I need a breather. A few minute's walk northwest of Kaihinmakuhari Station is an elevated linear green space, a "mall" in the sense of a promenade, running north and south affording great views between the buildings looking towards Tokyo Bay. The space feels intimate with plazas, an artificial stream with stepping stones, lush greenery, and bench seating.
