Closed, so enjoy Noda City's wagashi and sembei shops instead
Tiida, which got its name from the Okinawan word for sun, unfortunately didn't make it through the pandemic years. When you stroll along Nagareyama Kaido, the town's main thoroughfare, I recommend looking out for the senbei and sweets shops. Within a 10-minute walk, you'll find a half-dozen long-established shops with delicious sweets that make great gifts.

Savory and sweet western style confections
Tiida Cafe opened a few months ago in central Noda City. It's a tiny bakery cafe run by a sole proprietor. The shop is described as wagashi, Japanese sweets, but the sole proprietor and baker produces all kinds of sweet and savory items. At the counter, you might find crumbly fresh-baked scones that remind you of British baking. The selection of cookies can include tea, cheese and pepper, caramel, chocolate, and citrus. Right now, the cafe's tables and chairs are pushed against the wall, as she doesn't serve in the cafe. I got a dozen kinds of cookies for my coworkers and they were delighted by the flavors and crispy texture.
