Out of the way temple with spectacular cherry trees
This Shingi-Shingon temple is a little out of the way, but if you're looking for a place to be steeped in history in solitude, this is the place. The path to the main red gate is distinctive for its rubble. The roots of two heritage cherry trees have left the path uneven, but this the charm of the place. Just inside the red gate are well-loved Jizo statues and a serene Buddha statue. The temple draws attention in spring for its weeping cherry trees that sway in front of the main hall. The location is a little out of the way, but the cherry blossoms in the courtyard, the austere temple hall, with a little forest in the background, make for an enchanting spot for hanami.
