Alternative to Omiya park for cherry blossom viewing

Citizen's Forest Minuma Green center is a lush park in the Kita Ward of Saitama City. The park isn't particularly big, but it has some lovely lawns. Moreover it has several gorgeous mature cherry blossom trees. Omiya park is famous for cherry blossoms in Saitama. And for that reason it is always packed in spring, even on a weekday. But if you are looking for somewhere quieter to enjoy "hanami", Minuma Green center is a good option on a weekday. However, it too gets busy on weekends. The park has a free chipmunk zoo in it. There are two different car parks - one on the south end, one on the east. Both are free. There are toilets, vending machines and water drinking fountains in the park.
