If you're in Okinawa and looking for a unique/fun way to beat the heat, a visit to Cave Okinawa is a great option. Admission is priced at 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for kids, and the cave has an average year-round temperature of 23 degrees Celsius -- definitely what I would call a pleasant temperature. Parts of the cave are illuminated with different colored lights, which makes for a fun atmosphere. It only takes about 30 minutes to see the whole thing, so the only downside is that it doesn't kill a lot of time.
