Statue of Maidens

Lake Towada's famous statue

Otome-no-zō, or Statue of Maidens in English, is a famous statue and symbol of Lake Towada. In the map pictured above it is pinpointed on the far right, at the top, of the map. I am sorry I don't have a photo of it - I forgot to take one this past trip (August 2023) and I can't find the print photos I took of it 18 years ago! Although the statue really isn't overly impressive to look at, in my personal opinion, it does have an interesting background story. Moreover, you can't really go to Lake Towada without visiting its main landmark!
