World Class, worth seeing
There are aquariums up and down the length and breadth of Japan. Some are better than others, and some, like Churaumi Aquarium are particularly worth visiting, even going out of your way to visit. At one point it was the largest aquarium in the world and is still one of the largest even though its been pipped from the top spot. Entering the main tank is like being transported to another world.

One of the best aquariums in the world.
If you're visiting Okinawa, I would be remiss not to mention the Churaumi Aquarium as a must see spot on the beautiful island. It's one of the biggest aquariums in the world - and in my opinion one of the best, too. There are loads of exhibits, but the piece de resistance to me is the main tank - it truly is enormous and you could sit and watch all the marine life for hours if you had the time. The aquarium is also great for hands on experiences for little ones. There is a section where they can handle all manner of small marine life like starfishes, and this was a hit for our toddler. If you're traveling with little ones in tow, there is a great outdoor playground too located in the Ocean Expo Park grounds. Great for them to burn off some energy if they have any left after seeing all the awesome exhibits!
