A park full of peonies
Higashimatsuyama Botanen is a park in a very rural part of Higashimatsuyama, relatively close to Musashi Kyuryo national government park. The park is renowned for its peony garden. It is a relatively small park. Apart from the peonies there are a few other seasonal blooms such as wintersweet in January and plum blossoms in February. Just a handful of each though. There are playgrounds. One which is really old and basic with only three pieces of equipment. And another one that was only added a couple of years ago, which is really colorful and engaging. The park has some really good events during the year. The highlight of their calendar is the peony festival in April. This year it couldn't go ahead because of the coronavirus outbreak. Free parking for about 30 cars. Toilets, water drinking fountains and vending machines available at the park.
