The best curry chain in Japan (I'll die on this hill)
I used to be a diehard Coco Curry fan. I mean it; I would go almost every week especially during sasami katsu season. But recently, something's been off. I'm not sure if it's that I've gotten tired of it, or if their standards have decreased. I was recommended Go Go Curry by a friend, and finally decided to bite the bullet and go. I've always seen the brand, but just assumed it was a cheap imitation of Coco Curry (even the name sounds the same). However, they made it a point to distance themselves in a lot of ways from Coco. Firstly, their sizing system is weird but good. They throw weird English words onto size names. I got the "healthy" size which was smaller than a regular, but to be honest it suited me fine. I got chicken katsu on top, and my katsu was the same size as a regular order; only the rice and roux sizes differed. You order from a ticket machine (so you can see the entire menu) then hand the tickets to the worker. It was crowded when I went to this branch, so I had to wait on the stairs for a while before a table opened up. The food came really quickly, but I was a bit weirded out by it at first. There was so much cabbage? And so little rice? And why was the curry so dark?! I didn't let that stop me though and I took a bite. My goodness, if that wasn't the most delicious bite of curry I've ever had. Somehow, everything balanced out and melded together to form a perfect mix of flavor. I was hooked. Everyone needs to go to Go Go at least once and experience a superior curry.
