Funky retro shop with pinball machines

At the height of the Showa era, before convenience stores were a thing, the Katsushika district was filled with penny candy shops like this one. Haikara Yokocho stocks old-fashioned sweets and snacks that are typical of the 1970s and 1980s. Some of the junk food is available anywhere, but others with retro-style labels and quirky flavors are hard to come by. It's a cool place to get junk food for your Japanese colleagues and friends who remember the Bubble era. Upstairs is a toy museum. Toy manufacturing was a big industry in Katsushika. For a few hundred yen, you can run race cars on their slot racing track and play vintage pinball machines.
