Known for hydrangeas in summer, but beautiful in other seasons too!
Kogen-in is located in the Iiyama area of Nagano, and the temple is best known for being a summertime hydrangea spot – there are about 10,000 of them filling the grounds. I think it's beautiful in other seasons as well, and would highly recommend a winter visit if you can swing it. The peace and tranquility of the temple grounds when surrounded by snow is really enhanced, and I think it creates a really special experience.
