Good amenities and reasonable admission fee, but not open all year

The Ojiya City Pool is a good option for those living nearby to cool off in the summer months, and there are quite a few amenities to suit all age groups. There's a 50 meter lap pool, a kids and infants pool (available in the peak season of July and August only), and even a water slide. Outside the peak season the 50 meter pool is open from June to September, but outside that period the pool closes -- keep that in mind if you plan to visit. Adults are priced at 400 yen, junior high and elementary kids are priced at 200 yen, and preschoolers are free, so it's a pretty cost-effective summer day out.
