Cherry blossom viewing on Tiger mountain
Torayama is a hiking area and a cherry blossom viewing spot in Higashichichibu village. The cherry blossom viewing area is only open for two weeks of the year when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. You can hike in the area at anytime of the year, but at the moment there is no dedicated public parking for the area. Torayama is the Japanese for tiger mountain. They have a carved tiger statue at the entrance to the cherry blossom area. Near the summit of the mountain there is a small waterfall. The walk of the cherry blossom viewing area winds up and down the mountain easing the gradient of the trail. During cherry blossom season only there is a car park at the foot of Mt Torayama. It is free, but they have a donations box if you wish to contribute to the upkeep of the area.
