    A bird Cafe

The Kotori Café Kichijouji is situated close to the famous Ghibli Musuem. It can be reached by both train stations Mitaka and Kichijouji. It is a little far from the stations, so if you don’t want to walk you can take the bus going to Ghibli Musuem from Mitaka station. Like the name says (Kotori means small bird) the Café is all about birds. The menu is all bird themed and while eating you can watch the birds in the bird cage in the front window. The menu is quite limited. The have a curry and 3 different cakes for dessert. The curry comes with a small bird shaped out of rice on it and the cakes are made to look like birds, too. Unfortunately the food tasted pretty average which was a little let down considering the above average prices. It is also possible to directly interact with the birds. For 300 Yen you can get 5 minutes of private time with a bird of your choice. A staff will lead to a different room and put it on your hand so you can stroke it and take photos. All in all it was a nice experience, but If you’re are not into cutely arranged food you’re better of eating a cheaper curry someplace else.
