Vegan-friendly cafe in Shinjuku
During a recent visit to Shinjuku, I took it upon myself to try something different and tried out plant more, a cafe/restaurant with a selection of healthy, vegetarian options - and yes, some of them are vegan. By Shinjuku standards, plant more is quite easy to find. Make your way to Lumine Shinjuku 1 and take the elevator to the sixth floor, and it will be right in front of you. I was very happy with the food and the drinks alike. At least half the menu is labeled as vegan, and allergy information was clearly displayed with each menu item and easy to understand. I ordered plant more Meal Plate, which comes with a drink, and it was not just delicious but beautifully presented too. While I enjoyed all of it, the falafels, sweet potatoes, and za’atar dressing were particular highlights. The staff are pleasant and the menu is bilingual, and there are several payment options. The cafe environment is pleasant and spacious, lots of muted colours and plenty of plant decorations, and there is a decent amount of seating available. It also wasn’t especially crowded; I went there on a weekday and arrived before noon, and there was plenty of space available. Even as we got deeper into lunch hour, there were still quite a few seats available. While it cost a bit more than I usually pay for lunch, I think it was well worth it as an occasional treat. All in all, this is definitely a place I hope to visit again the next time I’m in Shinjuku. Their website is available here: https://www.cafecompany.co.jp/brands/plant-more/
