Inasanohama Beach

Go to see the shrine on a rock!

One of the iconic sights around the Izumo area (apart from the shrine itself) is this rock that has a tiny shrine on it, at Inasanohama Beach. The beach itself is about a 10 minute bike ride from Izumo Taisha, or probably around 30 minutes on foot. Parking is available right out the front if you're headed there by car. It's definitely a pleasant spot to wander around for a bit, but didn't really seem to be a beach for swimming, although it was May that I visited - so perhaps it was a little too early in the season for that. If nothing else, it's a free addition to a trip to Izumo Taisha and definitely makes for a photogenic spot to snap a pic or two.
