Fascinating museum that gives you a new appreciation for all things sand!

If you're headed to Tottori it's likely that you're going for the sand dunes, but be sure to make a stop at the sand museum as well. It was several years ago now that my husband and I went (back in 2014) and we continually talk about how great it was. Each year they take on a different theme - when we went it was Russia, and other years have included the United States of America, Italy/the Renaissance, South America, and Africa. This year's theme (starting on April 14th) is a Nordic one. Adult admission is 500 yen, students are 200 yen - and to me it's worth every bit. It gives you an appreciation for how much work would go into creating the masterpieces they come up with, and perhaps makes your beach sandcastles feel a little inferior. A must visit in my opinion if you're headed to the region.
