Have Fun with Moomins!
Moominvalley Park is an amusement park dedicated to Moomin, a comic strip created by Finish illustrator Tove Jansson. Located in Hanno, Saitama, this place makes you feel really close to nature since it is surrounded by lush greeneries; plus, it is beside Lake Miyazawa, making it stand-out to other theme parks. RIDES: Moominvalley Park has few fun attractions, but it’s not as grad as Disney Land so don’t expect too much. We only went to 2 rides since we were on budget and the admission fee DOESN’T COVER it! You need to pay separately. It does have FREE ATTRACTONS which are the Kokemus (a museum about Moomin), outdoor theatre (where you can take photos with the Moomin characters after the show), and the playground at the Lonely Mountain. They have lots of IG worthy spots, so it was fun to take pictures and it’s not that crowded. You won’t have a hard time taking photos. FOOD: The main at café at this theme park can be a bit busy so we just bought food from the stalls and look a place to sit down. It wasn’t too expensive and it was also tasty, hence it wasn’t a bother for us. There aren’t that many choices though, but you could always just grab a bite at some of the food stalls in Metsa Village (just outside Moomin Valley). THINGS TO REMEMBER: The ENTRACE FEE is 1500 yen. Other attractions are worth 500-1500 yen. In addition, from HANNO STATION you could take a bus going to Metsa. It’s the last stop and it’s where you get off. It cost about 200 yen. Moomin Valley Park is INSIDE Metsa. VERDICT: If you like taking quiet walks, being surrounded by nature or you’re just a big fan of Moomin, you should definitely visit it.
