A sliver of park on an Edo era canal

On the north side of Ohanajaya Station on the Keisei Line is a 3-kilometer long greenway that was once the Hikifunegawa. The name comes from the Edo era towed boat canal through here and was lost to urbanization and roadbuilding for the 1964 Olympics. Today it has urban streets running alongside it but preserves water features and a rice paddy that is worked every year. It makes for a pleasant place to stroll and view cherry blossoms and fall colors. The walk from Kameari Station to Ohanajaya Station along this route takes about 30 minutes.
